THAT NEW NOSTALGIA SMELL...

Summer always conjures up the need for a good burger.  Luckily, the quest for this was easily completed by visiting Archie’s Flat Top in the very hip Becher Street area of West Allis.

A juicy burger with a toasted bun, accompanied by crispy pickles, served in a black and white checkered paper basket. The burger features a generous amount of caramelized onions and crispy edges of a well-cooked patty, making it look particularly appetizing.
THE ARCHIE

FOOD

Archie's offers an array of burger options, from single and double patties to a vegetarian burger, which I appreciated. For my first visit, I decided to try No. 1. It was served up fast and fresh, and the No. 1 was a tasty choice. The single patty with melty American cheese on a soft potato roll was delicious. The highlight was the onions sautéed in Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, adding a unique flavor profile I usually avoid. My dining companion opted for The Archie, which elevated the burger experience with its double patties, shredded lettuce, tomato, and homemade special sauce. They also found their burger delightful. In addition to burgers, we shared French fries and an order of onion rings. I love crinkle-cut fries, but they could have been hotter as they lost some crispiness. To cap off the meal, Archie’s partners with local ice cream gem Scratch Ice Cream. Visiting their scoop shop within Archie’s was fun. I couldn’t resist a gigantic scoop of Candy Bar in a waffle cone—chocolatey, full of texture, and a high-quality ice cream base made for a perfect end to a delicious burger experience!

SERVICE

A delicious-looking ice cream cone with a generous scoop of ice cream, topped with chocolate swirls and chunks, held up against the backdrop of a retro-style ice cream parlor. The interior features a teal wall with the "Scratch Ice Cream" logo, red chairs, and a black-and-white checkered floor, creating a nostalgic and inviting atmosphere.
CANDY BAR IN A WAFFLE CONE

Archie’s Flat Top has a bar-ordering system instead of a dedicated table service. Ordering was fast and easy, and the food arrived at our table within ten minutes. However, no utensils were provided immediately when the food was brought out. We had to ask for basic utensils, which were quickly delivered. Overall, everyone we interacted with on the restaurant's Archie’s and Scratch Ice Cream sides was friendly and helpful.

MEMORABILITY

Finding a unique, tasty burger that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg is rare nowadays. Archie’s Flat Top lives up to its word-of-mouth reputation—the burger was one of the best I’ve had. The cool, comfortable vibe with their retro diner style adds to the experience. I can see myself hanging out here, listening to vinyl records, and trying more burger options. The Scratch Ice Cream scoop shop built into the restaurant is a big bonus. Archie’s Flat Top is well worth a visit if you’re craving some treats this summer!
